Sculptra® Injectable Filler

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is a revolutionary injectable dermal filler that works by stimulating your body's own natural collagen production. Collagen is a protein that gives your skin its youthful firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen production slows down, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, and a loss of facial volume.

Sculptra offers a unique two-in-one approach to facial rejuvenation:

  • Immediate volume restoration
Sculptra contains microparticles that provide immediate volume correction, filling in wrinkles and folds for a subtle yet noticeable lift.
  • Long-lasting collagen production
Sculptra's poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) formula stimulates your body to produce new collagen over time. This results in natural-looking, long-lasting improvements that can last up to two years.

Sculptra is ideal for those who want to:

  • Address smile lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds, and chin wrinkles.
  • Restore lost volume in the cheeks, temples, and jawline.
  • Achieve a smoother, more youthful appearance.
  • Enjoy natural-looking results that develop gradually.

Treatment areas include:

  • Cheeks
Restore natural collagen and improve skin quality for firmer, glowing skin in the entire cheek region. Help tighten skin along the cheeks and jawline.
  • Smile lines
Soften and improve smile lines by gradually reducing the appearance of facial folds and wrinkles.
  • Marionette lines
Smooth the lines that run from your mouth to your chin.

Sculptra® FAQs

  • How many treatments will I need?

On average, you will have 3 to 5 treatment sessions over the course of a few months. The number of Sculptra injections at each session will vary based on the treatment plan determined by you and your medical aesthetics doctor or aesthetician.

  • When will I see results?

Most patients see results as soon as 1 month, with sustained results for up to 2 years. Work with your medical aesthetics doctor or aesthetician on a treatment plan. Typical treatment is 3 sessions spaced at least 4 to 6 weeks apart.

  • What should I do after treatment?

Massage the treated area to evenly distribute Sculptra. A good rule of thumb is 3-3-3: Massage the injected area for 3 minutes, 3 times a day, for 3 days in a row.

  • Which areas does Sculptra treat?

Sculptra is used to correct shallow-to-deep wrinkles and folds on the face. Sculptra is clinically approved for:

    • Cheek wrinkles
    • Deep folds between the nose and mouth (nasolabial folds), also called “smile lines”
    • Lines framing the mouth (marionette lines)
    • Chin wrinkles
  • How soon after treatment can I wear makeup?

If there are no complications, you may apply makeup several hours after Sculptra treatment. Be sure to consult your doctor after treatment.

  • Is Sculptra safe? What are the side effects?

Sculptra is FDA-approved in the United States and has been used worldwide since 1999. Sculptra is made of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid that is absorbed naturally by the body and has been used for years in dissolvable stitches.

Since Sculptra does not contain any human or animal components, no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments.

Side effects reported include injection site pain, redness, bruising, tenderness, itching and lumps, bleeding, and swelling. Small bumps under the skin can sometimes be noticeable when pressing on the treated area. Larger lumps, with or without inflammation, have also been reported. These side effects generally last, on average, 3 to 17 days.
