Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Dr. Ramon Esparza, Pediatrician, has joined the team at ARC Pflugerville and will see patients beginning December 1.
"I chose a career in medicine because I was drawn to the sciences from a young age," says Dr. Esparza. "Going into medical school I thought I was going to be an Internist, he continues. "But once I went through my Pediatric clinical rotation, I knew I had found my calling. Seeing the huge impact that I could have on kids gave me a great feeling of fulfillment."
"I believe that medicine is not just a one way street; it is a joint path of working together with patients to achieve the ultimate goal," says Dr. Esparza. "This is accomplished by working with the patient and family so they fully understand their illness and what is needed to get better."
Lessons learned from the pandemic
When asked about what he especially enjoys about being a Pediatrician, Dr. Esparza says "I enjoy all pediatric ages from birth to young adulthood." He adds, "Sometimes the transition into adulthood can be hard for patients and I enjoy helping them thru the process."
"Doctors have long known that infections can spread thru the eyes, nose, and mouth," says Dr. Esparza. "During this season of COVID-19 people have learned to keep their hands off of their face. For young kids this is important because if they kept their fingers out of their mouth they would decrease infectious illnesses."
In his free time, Dr. Esparza enjoys supporting his favorite teams, saying "As a diehard Longhorn I enjoy attending sporting events at UT." He and his wife have three children and enjoy spending time together as a family.
