We are pleased to welcome Hetu Y. Parekh, MD, to the Allergy & Asthma team. Dr. Parekh sees patients at two ARC locations, ARC Four Points (Austin) and ARC Medical Plaza Specialty (Cedar Park).
"I chose medicine because it is one of the few careers that is so exclusively people focused," says Dr. Parekh. "I spend all day talking to so many different people and getting to know them!" He continues, "After practicing general pediatrics for several years, I chose to become an allergist because I was seeing so many kids with allergy problems and really wanted to delve deep into that specific area."
Discovering the root of the problem
Dr. Parekh says, "I enjoy allergy so much because treating people for their underlying allergic condition with allergy drops or shots lets me get to the root cause of the problem and instead of just giving a medication to put a "bandaid" on the problem."
When asked for his health tip for patients, Dr. Parekh says, "Do the Neti Pot!"
In his free time, Dr. Parekh says he enjoys, "Anything outdoors, whether it is just going for a walk in my neighborhood or hiking and picnicking with my family, travelling, cooking, and of course eating at food trucks!"
