ARC now offers multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment at ARC Four Points.
Diana N. Andino, MD, has joined the ARC Neurology staff at ARC Four Points, seeing patients 18 and older. She is bilingual and welcomes Spanish-speaking patients.
Neurologic conditions treated
Dr. Andino specializes in diagnosing, treating, and managing neuro-immune and neuroinflammatory conditions of the nervous system. She is fellowship trained in multiple sclerosis and aware of the latest research breakthroughs and treatments.
Diagnosing MS is complex, and symptoms may differ from person to person. Different kinds of MS require different tests before a diagnosis can be made. Dr. Andino diagnoses and treats various MS-related conditions, including:
- Multiple sclerosis (MS) – including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), secondary progressive MS (SPMS), primary progressive MS (PPMS)
- Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG)
- Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD)
- Neurosarcoidosis
- Optic neuritis (ON)
- Transverse myelitis (TM)
- Autoimmune encephalitis
- Central nervous system vasculitis
What is multiple sclerosis?
Typically, our immune system fights off infection and protects us from severe illness. In MS, the immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves, which control many parts of our body. That's why MS symptoms vary and may include fatigue, loss of balance, vision problems, thinking and memory problems, and more.
Treatment methods for MS
There is not yet a cure for MS, but Dr. Andino works closely with you to prescribe and monitor disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) that can slow the progression of the disease and reduce acute relapses. These therapies are taken in the form of infusions, injections, or steroids and administered at ARC Four Points.
