Reduce blood clot formation with Coumadin®
Coumadin® is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that reduces the formation of blood clots in the veins, arteries, lungs, or heart, which can reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, or other serious conditions. Coumadin® works by blocking the formation of certain clotting factors. Without these clotting factors, blood clots are unable to form. You may have heard of the drug Warfarin or Warfarin Sodium; these are the generic versions of Coumadin®.
Coumadin® therapy includes regularly scheduled blood tests to determine if your medication is working. It is vital to your health that you attend all your scheduled appointments. If you must cancel an appointment, please call ahead so we can reschedule your blood test. Bring all medication bottles to each visit. Please contact your clinic if you have any questions or concerns.
