Becoming a physician is committing to an identity. It is a living commitment to respect and care for all people, front and center, in all aspects of your life. I honor that physician identity of providing aid and comfort for the sick, without judgment, and without regard to our personal differences. It is my role in the healing of this struggling modern world.

I believe in being aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues. Despite modern medical advances, our health care system continues to be difficult to navigate for large segments of our population, and may not change in the near future. It is important to deliver the best care we can in this increasingly challenging environment.

In the words of Mother Teresa, ‘The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway. Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.’
