About Ky Q. Nguyen, MD

  • After practicing in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 12 years, Dr. Nguyen, his wife, and three children relocated to Austin in 2008. He enjoys growing orchids, doing handy work around the house, and practicing meditation. Dr. Nguyen’s volunteer work includes mission trips to Houston through RAM (Rural Area Medical) in late 2017, and to Vietnam in 2016 and 2018, serving as a co-director for a team of 50 healthcare providers and non-healthcare volunteers from the U.S. He also teaches youths at a Buddhist temple on the weekends. Dr. Nguyen is fluent in Vietnamese.

I treat my patients like extended family members. They deserve and receive my full attention at each visit. Besides caring for their overall well-being, I like to know how they are doing in their lives.

There have been long delays in getting my questions and concerns answered. The last call I had with the nurse to discuss test results ended with her saying she would speak with the doctor and call me right back but it’s been over 2 hours. I understand the doctor is busy but the delay in response impacts my daughter’s care. She keeps vomiting up food she ate over 48 hours ago and while I understand delayed gastric emptying may be a symptom caused by her virus, it is difficult to know how much medicine she is getting when she’s vomiting because of it (which I imagine delayed gastric emptying in general would impact how medicine is absorbed even without the vomiting but at least I would know it’s still in her). This is why I asked about a prescription for zofran. If the answer is no that would be one thing but currently I have not received any answer.
