About Enrique Spindel, MD

  • Dr. Spindel grew up in Mexico City and has been in the Austin area since 1984. When he is not working, Dr. Spindel enjoys spending time with his family, swimming laps at the YMCA, walking around Lady Bird Lake, and volunteering. Among his favorite area locales are the Lady Bird Lake trail, the reading room of the Central Austin Public Library, Enchanted Rock, and for barbeque, the Salt Lick in Driftwood.

I had two uncles who were doctors and great role models. Since childhood, I wanted to be like them and become a doctor. I am fascinated by the function and intricacy of the design of the human body. I also appreciate the individuality of each being as a separate and unique person with special attributes, and consider each patient unique. I am privileged to see each encounter with my patients as an opportunity to make a difference and see a vignette of a life. I am most grateful for that.

I disliked the doctor, his handling of the appointment, and his overall disinterest in my situation. I received no helpful information or explanation of the tests that were ordered. Despite discussing my use of semaglutide, he failed to mention that I needed to stop taking it seven days before the endoscopy he ordered. So after waiting almost three weeks for the procedure, it had to be canceled and rescheduled for another two weeks. I have already requested that any follow-up appointments be scheduled with a different doctor.

The Dr was so nice listened to me and wanting to help me.

All good. Was able to get worked in which was a huge benefit to me. Everyone I saw was top notch!

Dr Spindel was very reassuring and had a ready solution.

I already stated it, I felt like it was a very ‘cold appointment’ I didn’t think he cared about the subject. He didn’t give me tips tell me to do anything. He just discussed what I went to the ER for, my health history etc… I wish he was more personable? Not that he didn’t do what he was supposed to do. I just felt like more could have been accomplished with the visit this morning regarding myself. Such as a G.I map to see what is actually going on with my gut. Is there a health issue that is causing my weak gut? Why have I been diagnosed with H-pylori 2x. I told him that, he didn’t seem like he cared all that much.

The doctor was dismissive about my concerns and didn’t always let me finish my sentence. He didn’t seem to understand why I was being seen for IBS symptoms (to rule out anything else). He ordered some tests to be done but seemed reluctant to do so.
