The benefit of a family-centered approach to treatment

Audiologist Melanie G. Garner

Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Melanie G. Garner, AuD, Audiologist, has joined the team at ARC South 1st Specialty and Pediatrics.

When discussing her passion for audiology, Garner says, "I love that audiology is a people-centered discipline with a strong foundation in science and research. It requires creative solutions and a lot of opportunities for me to be the listener when interacting with those enlisting my help."

Garner considers treating hearing issues as a family affair. She says, "I take a family-centered approach to hearing health. Communication is a dynamic activity, and reducing the impact of hearing impairment by involving family in treatment plans is beneficial to all."

Consistency leads to success

Garner says, "I truly enjoy working with individuals who are just beginning their journey with hearing aids. So much of the lifelong success is determined by effective counseling and empathetic, competent professionals guiding the process. This starts at the very beginning." Garner adds, "When beginning treatment with hearing aids, consistency in use is the best thing anyone can do for a successful outcome."

A native Austinite, Garner can often be found biking around Ladybird Lake and, like many of us, traveling to cooler climates in the summer! She says, "My favorite spots in Austin are along the shores of Lady Bird Lake and amongst the trees in the Barton Creek greenbelt."

Welcome to Austin Regional Clinic, Ms. Garner!
