Successful pilot for AI-generated lab results expands to ARC Far West

ARC recently expanded a successful pilot project that uses artificial intelligence to automatically generate summaries of lab results through ARC MyChart.

The automatically generated lab results minimize time-consuming exchanges between patients and care teams and deliver easy-to-understand, action-oriented summaries within minutes.

Importantly, all of the lab results are still reviewed by ARC healthcare physicians and advanced practice clinicians to ensure additional information does not need to be relayed to patients.

Great results

"The platform has allowed our practitioners to spend more time doing what we do best: seeing and treating patients," said Manish M. Naik, MD, ARC Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Information Officer.

What patients see

  • Within an hour of lab work completion, patients receive an AI-generated summary of lab results.
  • The summary is identified as an auto-generated message.
  • The care team can follow up with additional information or instructions.

Successful pilot expands

In the ARC Cedar Park pilot, 97% of patients who received the summaries felt the AI-generated summary helped them understand their lab results.

After a successful pilot last year, we expanded the program to ARC Far West in January for family and internal medicine lab results, including CBC, CMP, TSH, HbA1C, and lipid panels.

If you have already received an AI-generated lab result summary and responded to our survey, thank you for helping us pilot this project and improve our process! And if you haven't, you can look forward to it in the near future.
