Austin Regional Clinic is happy to announce that Stephanie J. Harris, Advanced Practice Nurse, has joined the team at ARC Southwest.
Stephanie says that she became a nurse because of family heritage. She says, "I believe nursing is in my blood as both of my grandmothers were nurses." Stephanie adds, "I fell in love with patient care and being an advocate for those in their most vulnerable time."
Stephanie describes her approach to treating patients as Holism, saying, "You are more than your medical ailment; you are a whole person and there needs to be a balance in life. Most importantly patients sometimes just need you to pause, listen, and care."
Prevention and intervention
Stephanie has a strong interest in educating her patients in preventive care. She says she practices "Anticipation based on family medical history and early intervention when possible."
She often reminds her families that "Children are individuals, what works for one child in your family may not work for the other."
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys, sports, concerts and until recently, playing with her nieces. She adds that she does not have a favorite Central Texas spot yet, "but I look forward to exploring in the future."
