MEDIA ADVISORY
November 3, 2021 – With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approval for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children ages 5-11, ARC will open scheduling this afternoon for appointments beginning next week. Availability is limited until the majority of ARC's pre-ordered shipments of the low-dose pediatric vials arrive from the State.
ARC has pre-ordered sufficient vaccine for all pediatric patients at all primary care locations and encourages parents to be patient as shipments arrive for each clinic. ARC expects the majority of its pediatric vaccine shipments to be in the primary care clinics by next week.
Patients may begin scheduling on available schedules by phone and online this afternoon:
- Parents/Guardians with proxy can schedule through ARC MyChart
- If parent does not yet have proxy for their child/children, they should visit www.ARCMyChartproxy.com
- Those without MyChart can call the ARC COVID-19 Hotline, 866-453-4525.
"I have seen so many children who are anxious to go back to life before the worry of COVID-19," said Elizabeth Knapp, MD, Co-Chief of ARC Pediatrics. "So we cannot wait to have our kids being able to be vaccinated and protected against this illness. From our trials, we think kids will receive about 90% protection even against the Delta strain with this vaccine. "
Visit the ARC website, www.austinregionalclinic.com or log in to ARC MyChart for updates, or follow ARC on social media - Facebook and Instagram.
We ask for and appreciate the media's help to inform the public that the Pfizer low-dose pediatric vaccine will soon be available for ages 5-11, and that vaccine for children 12 years and over continues to be available in all ARC primary care locations.
