What Do a Birthday and a Well-Check Exam Have in Common?
June 13, 2016
Just like a birthday, a well-check exam should be an annual event in your child’s life. “I recommend scheduling the check up close to your child’s birthday as an easy way to remember each year,” says Dr. Helena Gonzalez, pediatrician at ARC Far West.
A well-check exam, also known as a well-care, well-baby, or well-child check up, focuses on maintaining your child’s health and is a time to discuss preventive care with your child’s pediatrician. During the check up, your child’s pediatrician can also complete any camp or sports physical forms required for extracurricular activities.
“It’s important to get an annual well-child check up to review how your child’s growth and development is progressing,” says Dr. Gonzalez in this segment of the ARC Healthcare Minute.
If it is getting close to your child’s birthday, don’t forget to schedule a well-check exam. You can make an appointment to see Dr. Gonzalez at ARC Far West by requesting an appointment online or via MyChart.
During the summer months throughout June and July, ARC offers special times for walk-in well-check exams, check the schedule for a location near you.
