ARC’s Newest PA Says “Get Up and Move!”

Austin Regional Clinic is pleased to announce that Physician Assistant Michael M. Farris has joined the Orthopedics team for spine care. He sees patients at four locations: ARC Now Clinic in Cedar Park, ARC Southwest, ARC Far West Medical Tower, and ARC South 1st.

Michael is a self-described Army brat; he lived in Germany, and all over the United States. His father retired when he was a sophomore in high school; he finished high school and attended college in Oklahoma.

Michael’s interest in Orthopedics started early. He says, “I started working with an orthopedic spine surgeon while in Colorado Springs, I found it to be very interesting and challenging. It gradually evolved into a dedicated spine practice which I really enjoy. Seeing my patients improve is the best part.”

When asked about his approach to patient care, Michael replies, “I believe that every patient that I see should get 100% of my attention.” He adds that he “answers all questions in terms that patients can understand.”

In his spare time, Michael says, “I like riding my motorcycle when it’s not too hot, and really enjoy watching my kids participate in athletics.”

Michael’s favorite health tips for patients? “For individuals who have a sedentary job, I advise that they frequently get up and move around; staying seated at their desk for extended periods of time contributes to increasing low back and neck pain.” He adds, “For individuals in this work setting a variable height desk would be beneficial in reducing back and neck strain.”
